25 years ago, Yitzhak Rabin passed away. To echo the exhibition at the BNF, the filmmaker Amos Gitai revisits the fable he had imagined with exceptional artists.

Yitzhak Rabin: Chronicle of an Assassination records the day – 4 November 1995 – when a young religious right-wing Jew killed Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. In the centre, Amos Gitai gives the testimony, moment by moment, of his widow, Leah Rabin, a woman without hate. Around her, with her, a mosaic of images-documents, languages, music-weave together the story of that fatal day for peace in Israel and in the world. In this great theatre of shadows, if the dead do not rise, the living do so for them. This is why Amos Gitai, filmmaker and architect of memory, tirelessly brings back to life this wide-ranging, anxious cantata that questions the facts – the deadly rise of nationalism – which some would like to erase.
