Mozart was part of Gustav Mahler’s Viennese world, who performed his chamber music and conducted many of his operas when Mahler was director of the Wiener Staatsoper. When Mahler breathed his last, in Vienna, just like Mozart, his biographers say that his last word was “Mozart”. This programme will be enriched by readings from Gustav and Alma Mahler’s correspondence and from Natalie Bauer Lechner, Gustav Mahler’s close friend (documents provided by the Mahler Music Library)
