A tribute to Duke and the women who inspired some of his most beautiful themes

Duke Ellington loved women… and they loved him back, serving as inspiration for his work throughout his long career. The Duke Ladies are women he dated, whose portraits he painted or who sang for him, adorned with subtle and refined arrangements (often with the help of his alter ego Billy Strayhorn). His music paid tribute to them, with tenderness and humour. The Duke Ladies are also artists of our time, sincere and passionate, brought together to embody with talent and generosity the multiple facets of Ellingtonian art.
