Berio / Bosetti / Macé / Sardane

For the 52nd edition of the Autumn festival, the festival offers a portrait of the composer  Pierre-Yves Macé.

The Belvedere Variations are a cycle of plays imagined for a particular place: the Belvedere Hotel in Cerbère, town in the Oriental Pyrenees overlooking the Mediterranean. This hotel built during the 1920s in the paquebot style, that stems from the Art deco movement, allowed travellers to make a rail stop before crossing into Spain. The Instant donné Ensemble and Pierre-Yves Macé stayed there for several months in 2023. The music score is made up of several pieces of music from traditional catalan dances (sardanes, contrapàs), ancient songs such as La Santa Espina as well as recordings of testimonies from Cerbère locals.
