Frame by Frame

Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis, Soft Machine, Magma, Frank Zappa… Their music has rocked our childhood. Even if our paths have led us to other universes, these groups are written in our musical genes. And their compositions, sometimes incredibly refined and going beyond the usual pop music formats, often present references to orchestral music or weave obvious links to jazz. This musical trend, which is sometimes called “prog rock”, was an important part of the creative process in the 1970s and became an ideal playground for the musicians of the ONJ.

I wanted to share the arrangements for this programme with several female composers who were also immersed in this music. With Airelle Besson, Sarah Murcia and Sylvaine Hélary, we offer you, through these rereadings, a musical journey within these sound universes which are still totally futuristic today.
