Alone on the stage of the Théâtre du Châtelet, Edgar Moreau performs Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suites for Solo Cello — a work both monumental and timeless, as essential to the cello as The Well-Tempered Clavier is to the piano. Beyond its exploration of musical harmony, this score has, since the eighteenth century, invited performers to transcendence, blending spirituality with universality.

In counterpoint, philosopher André Comte-Sponville will offer a reflection on the organic link between the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the cosmos — understood as “the universe, or part of the universe, considered as an ordered whole.” A meditation on the intimate and the universal, on matter and the infinite.
