Dafné Kritharas en Sextet

Wild or of absolute refinement, Dafné Kritharas’ voice sweeps the listener into a mystical, sensitive, and passionate world. In her songs, sung in both Greek and French (the languages of her two homelands), she navigates through an endless range of nuances, expressing emotions that seem to come from another time, yet still touch us deeply in our hearts.

A self-taught musician, she is driven by a raw and powerful instinct towards a style that blends multiple influences (traditional music from Greece and Anatolia, classical, jazz, alternative rock, etc.). Through some of her compositions, she is eruptive and epic, invoking dark and magical figures. At times, she expresses the softness and melancholy of a lost time. Accompanied by virtuoso musicians (piano, strings, electro, percussion, bouzouki, bagpipes…), she also conveys the purest sense of joy and celebration from the shores of the Aegean Sea.
