salle à l'italienne

The main auditorium of the Théâtre du Châtelet is designed in the Italian style, an architectural style characterized by a multi-level auditorium arranged in a U-shape around a lower level known as the parterre or orchestra.

At the Théâtre du Châtelet, the auditorium is divided into an orchestra, a gallery, two balconies, and two amphitheaters. It has a maximum seating capacity of 2,036.

There are several seating plans with different seat distributions by category, depending on the type of performance (theater, dance, or concert). The seating plan varies based on staging and visibility requirements. Some performances have open seating, so seats are not numbered in those cases.

Why are there several categories?

As in most Italian-style theaters, some seats do not offer a full view of the stage and/or access to surtitles. Therefore, several categories are available, with tiered pricing that takes these factors into account.

Which category should you choose?

Category 1: The best seats in the theater, mainly in the orchestra and balcony sections, offering optimal visibility.
Category 2: Good seats, but less central than those in Category 1.
Category 3: These seats allow you to enjoy the show with a slight compromise on visibility (a small blind spot or pillars in the field of view).
Category 4: Most of these seats, located in the lower amphitheater, allow you to enjoy the show while accepting a compromise on visibility due to the presence of safety bars.
Category 5: Affordable seats with reduced visibility.
Category 6: Seats with no visibility at a very low price—so you can enjoy the show with your ears!
