The Théâtre du Châtelet makes every effort to facilitate access for people with disabilities: accessible venues, adapted support services, and special rates.

For your convenience, you can contact us by phone at 01 40 28 28 40 (from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays), or by email at accessibilite@chatelet.com, to reserve your spots and receive advice on choosing your sites.
NEW: REDUCED RATE
The Théâtre du Châtelet offers a reduced rate with a 50% discount on a selection of shows (limited number of seats), which can be reserved only by phone at 01 40 28 28 40 or by email at accessibilite@chatelet.com. This rate is available to:
– Holders of a Mobility Inclusion Disability Card.
– Job seekers and freelance workers.
– Recipients of minimum social benefits.

SPECTATORS IN WHEELCHAIRS
ACCESSIBLE FACILITIES AND WELCOMING SERVICE
The Grande Salle and the Grand Foyer at the Théâtre du Châtelet feature designated seating areas for people with limited mobility who use wheelchairs.
Elevators provide access to the theater’s various levels.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing audience
MAGNETIC LOOPS
The theater is equipped with amplified headphones and magnetic loops, which are available free of charge upon request at the Accessibility Desk before each performance.
ACCESSIBLE SUBTITLES
Accessible subtitles include additional contextual information to help audiences understand the performance. Character names are provided, along with voice-overs, descriptions of background music, sound effects, and off-screen action.

NEW: CHANSIGNE
Chansigne is a form of artistic interpretation that makes musical works accessible to deaf people. The lyrics are translated into sign language, and the rhythm and melodies are expressed through chansigne using the body, facial expressions, gestures, and body language. Chansigne captures the poetry and emotions conveyed by the sung lyrics. It is a truly visual, poetic, and rhythmic performance that recreates the world of the work through a different sensory medium and enriches the live performance experience.
This season, chansigne is available on the subtitle glasses for all performance dates:

VIBRATION PACK
Connected to artificial intelligence, the vest reproduces music with great precision through a variety of vibrations felt by the body. Audience members can better appreciate the differences in tone, rhythm, and intensity of the music—sensations that complement the visual experience.
Four packs are available for free pickup at the Accessibility Desk before each performance.

Blind and visually impaired spectators
PERFORMANCES WITH AUDIO DESCRIPTION
Using headphones provided to audience members, audio description offers a detailed account of the staging, the actors’ performances, their movements, the costumes, and the sets. Audio description is available for all performances of the shows listed below:

PROGRAMS IN BRAILLE AND LARGE PRINT
In addition to audio description, programs in Braille and large print are available at the Accessibility Desk. An audio version of this program is played through headphones before the show begins.

SMART GLASSES
Smart glasses allow subtitles to be projected onto the lenses without obstructing the viewer’s existing field of vision.
They also include an audio description feature delivered through earbuds.
These glasses offer:
Subtitles in English or French.
Adapted French subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members.
Audio description in French via earbuds connected to the device, for blind and visually impaired audience members.
Chansigne translation of the show *Les Misérables* for deaf audience members.
Subtitles can be customized to your preferences (size, color, brightness, position).
The subtitle glasses are available to anyone who wants or needs them: non-French speakers, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, visually impaired or blind, as well as anyone with limited neck or upper-body mobility. This service is also available to people with seats offering limited visibility, as well as those with vision problems.
They can be picked up free of charge at the Accessibility Desk before the start of the performance for all performances of the following shows:

Relax Performances
Relax performances offer an inclusive and supportive environment to make it easier for people whose disabilities may lead to atypical behaviors (autism, multiple disabilities, intellectual or mental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, etc.) to attend the show.
Both the audience and the performers are made aware of these needs, and standard theater rules are relaxed (such as allowing people to leave and re-enter during the performance) so that everyone can enjoy the show without anxiety in a comfortable environment.
A specialized team is on hand to welcome and assist audience members throughout the performance.
