From his early days in the 1980s, pianist and composer Laurent de Wilde has demonstrated an incessant musical curiosity that has led him to collaborate with artists of widely varying sensibilities and origins. He’s bringing together some of his friends tonight for this little world tour, starting with Franco-Congolese pianist Ray Lema, with whom he’s been crisscrossing the planet since 2016 as part of a piano duo where jazz meets Africa in a blend as explosive as it is harmonious. Also on his guest list is trumpeter Eddie Henderson, an old friend and historic trumpeter (Jazz Messengers, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner…), joined by virtuoso trombonist Daniel Zimmermann and multi-primed saxophonist Géraldine Laurent. Drummer Donald Kontomanou and bassist Darryl Hall hold this exceptional ensemble together: pure excellence.
